1) Had nothing to do with the case... Just the media graspin
at straws to malign a good cop.
*bringing ONE unauthorized weapon opens the door to people thinking maybe you brought TWO unauthorized weapons.
2) Has nothing to do with the death of the perp. He should have (and likely did) face internal discipline for violating dept procedures;
*never said it did, but shooting at the fleeing vehicle and PROBABLY violating policy there would lead some people to believe he was a rogue cop so to speak.
3) That's what Cops do. The cop didn't have his gun drawn at that time and was trying to get the suspect to exit the vehicle.
*yes that's what cops OFTEN do. it's also what they are trying to train cops to NOT do. which was my point. in this case it exacerbated the situation.
4) Cops aren't doctors and the autopsy is what revealed the clotting bandage would not have helped.
*of course not but they are mandated to try and provide 1st aid when appropriate.
5) What does that have to do with the case?
* only everything. if they had done this. he wouldn't have gone back in the car.
6) He went back to the car to secure and 'make safe' the weapon the suspect pulled on him. He is trained to do that.
* no he's not. or i should say doubtful. if he is then he's been trained poorly.
7) There is no 'alleged finding' of the gun. It was there.
* the state contends it was not. i already said it wasn't proven.
8) He should have worn gloves to secure the weapon.
*duh
