Right after Moses dies, the Children of Israel go into the promised land. In Joshua Chapter 1 God gives a command to Joshua, in verse 8.
"This BOOK of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may do according to all that is WRITTEN IN IT, for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."

So, some time between around 1445 and 1405B.C, the last 40 years of Moses' life, the Book of the Law was written. Some suggest his birth was around 1400 instead of 1525. It's been so long since I took a serious look at the dates I don't remember which is correct. The point is that the writings following the time of Christ were the end of the time of the writings, not the beginning.
