Paul wanted to be an apostle and to be one you needed to have KNOWN Jesus, so Paul says he KNEW him on the road to Damascus. Paul's letters are the first writings in the NT, about in the year 50. He, Peter and James have a big conflict "The Way" was a JEWISH cult led by the late Jesus of Nazareth, brother of James. Paul wants Gentiles, but to sign up, you needed to be circumsized (OW!!) and that was a hard sell. You also had to maintain JEWISH diet. THAT was a big conflict in Antioch, it was. Paul eventually wins out. Baptism takes the place of Circumcision in being one of the group and the Jewish diet fades eventually too.
You have a solid read on this too. There is so much there to discover.
