The sponsors would be lost

Because you would not be able to have competing sponsors..look at the NCAA basketball..they use the same sponsors for all of the rounds....If papa Johns became a sponsor of the playoff, do you think they would allow Pizza Hut to sponsor a bowl as part of the playoff...no..
The local interest would not be greater, because it becomes just a game rather than a bowl experience. People are not going to come days early for a game vs a bowl.
What happens to regular season tv dollars as those games become less important. attendance could go up in some places, but not for all....If you play a 1 vs 16 game, how many would go to that game? if you knew you had to travel 3 more weeks to future sites.
