1. The bowl games will still have sponsors, i.e. "it's the XYZ Fiesta Bowl". XYZ corp will still write a check to the bowl.
2. Sponsoring a bowl game that's a CFP elimination game may well be more attractive to a potential sponsor because of its higher interest, viewership, etc.
3. The local experience here in the Valley is the Fiesta Bowl draws more interest, a larger crowd and higher ratings in the year when it was an elimination game than the other year.
4. Bowl activities will undoubtedly be lost and a bowl will be less of an "experience" for teams and fans, but those considerations are a distance second to increasing the number of tv dollars.
Also, a large number of the bowl games, primarily the newer, lesser, earlier bowl games are just flat owned by ESPN.
