The eight game schedule allowed all 16 SEC teams to play each other home and away in a four year span. If they had stayed with eight for 26/27, Mizzou would have played home and away series in those years with Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas, LSU and Georgia, completing a four year cycle where Mizzou played everybody twice except Arkansas, which they would have played four times. The only difference now is that Mizzou will play three teams four times and everybody else twice.
I personally don't give a sh*t if Bama and Tennessee play each other every year. So what.
This isn't about traditional rivalries or strength of schedule for the CFP; this is about greed on the part of the TV networks and the conference.
