likely is in our current situation.

It is alleged, and I have no reason to challenge the allegations, that other nations have been charging higher tariffs on US imports and imposing other unfair and disproportionate barriers to US imports than the US charges them.

If Trump is successful in negotiating away some/many/all of those distorted barriers and reducing tariffs overall and making them symetrical in the process BOTH goals could and would be achieved, no?

Less barriers to free trade AND more US exports.
