How many conferences are you putting in? Are teams

from all other conferences excluded?

If not *every* conference is included, what about times when some team from an excluded conference gets a franchise player or two and wins all of their games, including some against the "in" conferences? As conferences rise or fall are you going to move some conferences out of the playoff contention and others in? Is there some objective way to determine how to do that?
