Those who were vaccinated against the “alpha” variant had protection from infection. But other variants existed at that point. Everyone was a Petri dish for new variants.

So they rushed out updates, but those updates couldn’t keep up with new variants. It was a losing battle. One that Birx said would happen in early 2021, that somehow everyone is acting like is breaking news.
