Focus groups are used to build ideas.

And you are now saying that focus groups are very similar to polling. They are not.

and to pretend that 5 people represent the millions of independents or undecides is just dumb.

But since they agree with you, it is confirmation bias for you...and social media is the best tool known to man to put out confirmation bias.
