They haven't "done something" (not sure that is true, they have pushed hard for mail order abortion pills to be legalized and advocated that position in federal courts and SCOTUS)...but they haven't pushed a federal abortion rights bill because it would never pass the house. I suspect unlike the Republicans who enjoy trying to pass bills over and over symbolically that they know will fail (see Obamacare 40+ times), the Dems don't see the point.

Your connection to student loan forgiveness and abortion doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
