There's a $4B battery plant being built in Desoto, KS. Once it is built, it is going to use an entire 220MW unit at a coal fired power plant to operate it. That unit was being mothballed due to the "war on coal" but is not being brought back online for the battery plant.

...and that's just to produce the batteries for the car. Don't forget the manufacturing plants to build the rest of the car, disposal of old batteries, and then where the energy comes from to charge them.
