I have unconditional love for my children. We use terms like "I'm proud of you" to demonstrate that, but if you want to break it down to the true meaning of that word, we would actually be saying "I find great personal satisfaction in the accomplishment that you had and vicariously towards myself in how I raised you" - when all I really mean is "I love you no matter what, but I'm happy for you that you achieved something for yourself". I want my kids to feel confident and supported (because of my genuine love for them) - so when they accomplish something I'll say that I'm proud of them.
I do not take pride in my children.
When it comes to my country. I live here. I do not love my country. My country murders, promotes wickedness, and exalts itself above God. I would never love that nor take pride in it. No believer in the history of the Church would feel that way about their country until the current age where we normalized loyalty, love, and devotion to the state as a thing that God wants for his people. Far be it from that.
