has a range of meaning that is unrelated to the sin of pride.

I am proud of my son = I love my son and am happy with him.

Usually.

It can be sinful if you use it in a meaning of elevating your son above others.

Likewise pride for country can be sinful if it is elevating your country above others, especially when trying to whitewash the sins of the country.
