Regarding the enforceable pitch clock in SEC games, do you or anyone else know if that applies to the pitchers and hitters both? Both have been issues on certain teams, seems like pitchers need to be on the mound and ready to deliver within X seconds from the previous pitch/play, and hitters need to be in the box. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. Given the selective enforcement (often willful non enforcement) of the illegal pitch rule, I’ll not hold my breath on this.
Re Mizzou pitching:
1. I think Krings is going to have an excellent senior year. If we struggle it won’t be on account of her.
2. Harrison didn’t need to pitch a lot last year, as you said. She got some good experience mostly against lesser opponents. Her ability to take the next step against better opponents including pretty much every SEC team on our schedule is going to be critical.
3. If not Harrison, then who? Or maybe we have 2-3 pitchers trading off on the innings when Krings isn’t pitching.
4. Does Pannell stay in the role she showed such promise in last year as the designated closer? Or is she a candidate to start. She looked very good at times.
5. Is Whitten ready to contribute after her redshirt year? She reportedly had offers from Minnesota, Wichita St, Ole Miss, and Miss St.
6. Is either freshman, McCann from Arizona and Touchet from Texas, good enough to contribute and be a second or third starter right off the bat in their freshman seasons? Are either that good?
