and travel and such. going from 40 to 48 adds hassle and guarantees that athletes can go their entire college career and never face certain opponents. 40 accomplishes everything they would need to accomplish, and simplifies schedules as well as the playoffs.

going from 40 to 48 is akin to the basketball tournament going from 64 to 68 or 72 or whatever they have now. it's meaningless and irrelevant.
