Mizzou’s football and hoops facilities aren’t a huge problem. It is a pretty small fanbase mainly because of inconsistent winning, sketchy interest in StL, KC and Springfield outside alums/students and other populous towns located close to other states …. and 2015 ran some fans. Tough to grow the t-shirt fanbase that a lot of the SEC enjoys if MU is seen as a libtard entity that can’t win. But sports could probably overcome this if it was entertaining. Kind of like how most of Wisconsin and Iowa is not far left but still like Lefty paradises in Iowa City and Madison because they win.
MU can compete with the 2nd 8 schools in the SEC….on average, MS St., Ole Miss, Arky, Vandy, USCe, UK and whomever is down. And it can have years in the top 8. It wouldn’t be any different in the B10. Yeah, I think MU could be a more consistent football winner in the Big 12 but I’m a WBB, volleyball and softball fan and I do really like being in the SEC for those sports.
MU can be great at hoops if it gets the coach (so says most colleges). 25 wins was a good sign with Gates. Football needs to show life this year. They seem to understand that with their STP mantra. Baseball seems like it would struggle anywhere other than maybe the B10. I don’t even think MU baseball would be very good in B12 especially if they steal some PAC 12 powers.
If MU wins 8 games and hoops makes the tourney again this coming year, it will help restore some momentum when Mike Anderson and Pinkel were increasing enrollment and merch sales.
Mizzou isn’t leaving no matter if they suck so might as well find things you like or just not worry about it. I’ve worried about it but it’s a waste of time. Mizzou is gonna do what it does but I think they are trying in most sports but so is everybody else in the SEC.
