from playing in not 1, but 2 national championships - the national championship in 2007 and 2013. And that was with the existing two team playoff.
With good coaching and recruiting (not great but good - Pinkel showed it could be done), I can easily see us having a very good shot at a future 12 team playoff.
And as far as divisions going away helping us - from a selfish standpoint, I liked our place in the SEC East (since I lived in Asheville, NC - easy drives for me to away games - I'm now moving to Ft Myers, FL - so I don't care :-) ).
But instead of annual or bi-annual treks to Lexington, KY; Athens, GA; Gainesville, FL; Knoxville, TN......now you have more regional games (closer to home) with keeping Arkansas, adding Oklahoma and the Texas schools, and also keeping Nashville (Vandy). And a better variety for the fans by seeing every SEC team on a pretty regular basis - versus the existing format.
I could definitely see divisions going away making for a better fan experience (easier to get to away games) and the development of rivalries that make sense.
My two cents.
