The completely unregulated NIL market is not good for college football. It was supposed to be genuine endorsement deals, but it has devolved into just pay for play. The result will be (is) a bigger gap between the haves and the have nots and less parity (ultimately less interesting football).

The fix is easy. Pay the players to play. There can be salary caps and collective bargaining, just like the NFL. And let them do genuine endorsement NIL deals if their image is marketable in some way (like that hot LSU gymnast).

But anybody is fooling themselves if they think these deals are anything other than underhanded pay for play.
