They have not been on the oil industry's radar for decades. Most are not all that prospective and even if you were to explore in offshore California, you would have all kinds of issues with the state in trying to bring the oil onshore. Most companies would not bite even if it were available. The Gulf of Mexico remains almost fully in play; the limitation is drilling offshore Florida on the GOM side. Trump himself took that off the table. As far as Alaska is concerned, nobody is going to touch federal waters off the north slope. Shell just paid 1 billion plus for a single exploration well that found uneconomic oil. The south coast is mostly natural gas for local consumption.

People read this stuff and think it's like god awful but they don't really understand what they are reading. Nothing has really changed.
