NIL for freshmen is capped at a fairly low amount. Not sure what that is because I don't know how much most freshmen get, but something like $10k seems reasonable. And the schools are completely in charge of NIL for freshmen and handle all the arrangements.
Sophomores have the option of working on NIL on their own or maybe with an agent, or they can work with the school like they did as freshmen.
Juniors and seniors have the additional option of working with NIL collectives.
If you transfer, you have to sit out a year. The only exception is a graduate transfer. During the year you have to sit-out, you are not eligible for NIL since you are not playing.
