Don't disagree and appreciate the positive support either way. We have been fortunate to have two college athletes and working on a third. I have told all my kids, you will have positive feedback and negative feedback, both have the potential to be constructive if given the right way. Take the good and flush the bad, but in today's age where kids are taking their lives over the stress and strain of the world, the last thing they need to see is negative comments personally attacking parts of their game.
Kels had a very similar experience with a coach growing up and used it as her college essay because it was so impactful. Sorry to hear your daughter was impacted in that way, but it is the challenges in life that define who we will be later so sounds like with the good parents around her, she will be just fine in the end.
Sports are like a ladder, maybe two steps up and one down, but what you do not need is someone along the way trying to kick the ladder out from under you.
Whether he meant things personal or not, that is for him to internalize, but I spoke my peace and there is enough said about this.
