and honestly, none of these things can really be evaluated on its own.
he needed superior talent to succeed because his coaching was a liability.
his coaching was a liability because his entire philosophy of minimizing the game limited his options.
this philosophy and style of play made it difficult to attract legitimate athletes with any talent.
this lack of talent made it harder to succeed because his coaching was a liability...
and round and round it goes.
folks were quick to try and grab one of those and turn it into an excuse for him, when in reality they're all inter-related weaknesses that led to his incredibly predictable demise.
ultimately the dude had more weaknesses than he did strengths, and those weaknesses were glaring. debating which of those weaknesses was his greatest weakness is futile.
