the person's likeness. It's a license to use their image and likeness. Of course that could be a print ad or a commercial.

I haven't seen a standard NIL deal between player and whoever wantst the deal with that player but I'm quite sure it contains language that if the player gets kicked off the team, the deal ends.

In other words, there is a contract like if the person was a free agent, but the benefit to the buyer is use of image and likeness. Whereas in a standard free agent baseball contract, the team gets the performance of that player's services.
