when combined with the transfer portal.

Imagine the pro leagues without contracts or salary caps.

The current NIL+portal system is going to become really unpopular once the richest programs have streamlined their NIL operations (like A&M has) and become highly efficient at poaching the top players from schools that spent 2+ years developing and paying "NIL" to the player, only to have a competitor reap the rewards.
