group and I agree that it’s better. Skip and Emerson openly admit that they just copied an Arkansas bastardization of the Memphis style of BBQ.
I actually like the folks from Belleville, IL who opened Beast, Butcher, and Block on Manchester in the Grove. The pork steak is incredible and you can get a full charcuterie board from their butcher counter. IMHO the ribs at Piccadilly in Maplewood are as good as anywhere in town.
I make regular trips up to North County from South St. Louis to visit Narrow Gauge. I’ll add a stop at your recommendation to try Roper’s next time….I was always a fan of Ed’s White Front back in the day.
