shadow of a doubt with our senses.
In a sense you might have faith that the universe is expanding or that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light but you can't prove them beyond the shadow of a doubt by physically measuring the speed of the expansion.
When Robert Koch first postulated that tiny organisms too small to be seen with the naked eye caused illnesses no one could prove beyond the shadow of a doubt whether his postulate was true or false. But his postulate was objectively true regardless of whether or not most people believed it or even if anyone believed it.
As time went on evidence accumulated and some people had faith in his beliefs in that regard, but it wasn't until the microscope was invented that it was possible to verify and see with one's own eyes that these tiny microorganisms actually existed and through further experiments gathered more and more evidence that his postulate was indeed objectively true.
