Our Lord, "What is truth" or more to the point what is the truth here?
You believe one thing & 4TigersinMichigan and I believe the opposite.
You are right that the truth is not based upon majority opinion.
The problem is that both sides cannot be right and that is about the most important question any of us could be faced with... What is the meaning of life.
The reason the word 'pagan' is considered bad/an insult to a Christian is that it is an assertion that the person has rejected the most important truth in the world... again, the meaning of life.
If one gets that wrong, then their whole lives have been a waste. Worse, it is losing on an infinite level... for eternity.
Pagans refer to Christians derisively as well, but it would seem to me that from a pagan's standpoint Christians should be no more than an irritant. Yeah, they may be wasting some time and money in their false beliefs but in the grand scheme of things they just miss out on some good things in life. They are also irritating because they are sometimes successful in passing laws or in other ways thwarting pagans from doing things that they would like to do & if they are right about the meaning to life... that there is in fact no meaning to life other than perhaps have as much fun as you can until you are dead, they are missing out on some things that they have a "right" to and that could be fun &/or pleasurable. Not good, but not as catastrophic as if the Christians are actually right.
I would assert that whether Christians are right or pagans are right there is an objective truth that is unchanged by who recognizes and believes it or not.
