The problem for most fans is simple, and boils down to CM's *perceived ceiling* at MU, which is directly correlated to the perception of his recruiting.

While CM does have a higher *floor* as you alluded, the concern is that he also has a *lower* ceiling.

And generally speaking, fans are patient with good recruiters, and impatient with bad ones (unless it's a coaching wizard who has proven he can "do more with less" like Gregg Marshall in BB or Bill Snyder in FB, but Cuonzo isn't in that category).

Fans are high on Drink because he's recruiting at a high level. If CM were landing consistent top 20 classes (which, at MU, is easier to achieve in BB than FB) then fans would be excited — or at least a lot more patient — with Cuonzo despite his mediocre results.
