Why does every basketball coach while currently coaching at Mizzou gets trashed(by a significant percentage of fans) but the minute they leave then all of a sudden the perception of them changes, with the slight exception of Norm. Ive watched and followed Mizzou hoops since the days of Stipo, Sunny and Ricky Frazier, so I have historical perspective.
“Quin was a coke head”, “MA played streetball with no structure who’s system couldnt win big”, “Haith cant coach and is sleazy(Nevin Shapiro), ”CM is lazy, cant coach, cant recruit”. Now fans would rather have MA or Haith, smh. The numbers show ALL were solid to above average, none were great but all had great moments within the first 3 years. I appreciate optimistic fans, who are objective and dont have to use hyperbole, strawmen arguments or downright lies to make their point.
Fan apathy has been trending downward for the last 3 decades and that has correlated with the team’s winning percentage as someone posted several days ago. Its hard to be a fan when your team is not winning or winning at the rate you think they should, thats why i respect fans of the Browns, Cubs, Indians(any Cleveland team, lol), Raiders and a few others. Its easy being a fan of college Blue bloods, or the Lakers, Cowboys (historically), Yankees, or Cardinals.
Some might say fan apathy leads to AD lack of investment, which leads to a slow downward trending trajectory of that program.
