secondary concern. MU had terrible seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20 under Cuonzo, but those could at least partially be plausibly explained away due to out of his control significant injuries that considerably impacted those seasons.
I didn't share you expectations for 2020-21. I felt this was absolutely a team that could have a good season, and felt it was imperative for Cuonzo's long term potential as MU's coach that at a minimum he pull off a good year this season. We didn't even come close, and despite no injury or off the court issues we significantly underachieved and looked very poorly coached all year with a veteran team composed of all players he brought to MU. I've seen enough now to know that we do not have the capacity for a good season at MU under Cuonzo, no matter who is on the roster. Its just not in the cards.
We are going to fluctuate somewhere between a middling SEC team and a bottom feeding SEC team year to year. Next year appears poised towards the latter. But in either case from my perspective those are just different flavors of an irrelevant SEC team.
