Unfortunately, it's closer to his ceiling. This year might be as good as it gets for him — a .500 finish in league play and first-round KO in the tourney, following a late-season collapse.
It's worth pointing out that Howland, who is 5-1 against Cuonzo, improved his team over the course of the season, while CM's team regressed.
Sagarin's "RECENT" rating, which weights recent games more heavily, has MSU at #32 and MU at #84. In other words, Howland would crush Cuonzo by an even larger margin if they were to play again today.
