would be crazy to leave MU for a school like that with sky-high expectations.
There's very little job security, even for an *excellent* coach like Gus Malzahn.
Mizzou, on the other hand, could pay a salary that's within 20% of what a coach could make at a powerhouse program, but offer *substantially* more job security.
A young top-tier coach could *realistically* make $150+ MILLION over the course of a career at MU, and he wouldn't have to worry about losing his job after an occasional 5-7 season. At schools like Auburn, however, you're on the hot seat if you go 9-3. Bo Pelini won 9+ games *every year* at Nebraska and still got fired after 4 seasons.
Powerhouse programs are where coaching careers go to die, in all but the rarest of exceptions.
