Once I was flying out of KCI to Florida thru atlanta (surprise).
I was flying alone and actually got to KCI before the *previous* flight to ATL left. As it was boarding I figured that I may as well wait around ATL instead of KCI so I approached the gate agent and said, "Hey, man, I'm gonna be on the next flight to ATL. If it helps you I can just take this one if you have any open seats."
The guy said, "There are open seats but it's $200 change fee." I told him to nevermind and I wait in KCI.
My flight begins to board and the gate agent says, "Hey, we're overbooked, and we're looking for volunteers to take another later flight. We'll reimburse you with (I think it was a $300 voucher)."
Dude looks straight at me. I'm like, WTF, NO.
