Delta flight changes

So my original flight tomorrow to FTL was not getting in until midnight.
I called the other day, and it would be almost $200 to change flight to morning direct flight. I had a $360 credit from a flight I cancelled back in spring..and he said I could not use that....so I stuck with original flight.
Today, I call and it is now down to $80 and I can use the credit...as they were trying to re-issue a new voucher it kept trying to refund my card...I said..that is ok....I got $280 back, but did not find a $5 bill around.
