i'm not a fan of bailing out stupid people who can't manage their personal finances. especially when this is likely the first real financial decision many of these folks have ever made. creates a bad set of expectations for their futures.
i'm also not fond of bailing out adults who made terrible decisions with their shareholders' money and as a result tanked entire industries.
but in both instances i understand the practical need. there are consequences to both sides of it. but in both scenarios, i'd prefer they pursue bankruptcy rather than a "get out of debt free" card. at least that creates a disincentive.
