principled person nominate a person whom the principled person on the other side would confirm. The interest are intrinsically opposed, as is their preferred methodology. It would lead to massive numbers of vacancies due to inability to come to agreement on nominies.
Of even greater concern is the harm done to the citizens' interest, as it undermines their voices in an election. The voters decide who runs the executive, and therefore, who makes the nominations. It is not the majority in the legislature that makes the nominations, but the chief excutive officer. So that would be an impermissible action under our U.S. Constitution as it currently exists.
