I never attended MU, except for a few parties there when we drove down from Truman State. But growing up in Missouri and going to a smaller State University, it felt like Mizzou was the only program to root for.

The biggest hurdle to a wide fanbase is that there are major sports that compete with it in Missouri. The CHiefs, Cardinals and Blues. There are other things going on. If you go to Alabama or Louisiana, there is nothing else going on. The college team is the pro sports franchise for the area.
