The thing progressive, lefties like to ignore is that minimum wage jobs aren't supposed to be "lifetime".

People start low, work there way up (unless they just suck).

with a generous welfare system, you can sit on your ass, make close to minimum without having to work, giving you free time for your life of crime. (Don't want a real job screwing over your welfare check).

So, you stop upward mobility, encourage crime, and slacking off. Govt help essentially turns them into angry infants, incapable of helping themselves or their children.

end result is the generation poverty we have now.
