disposable income out of consumer's pockets?

The prices in the US are affected by movements in prices in world markets, no? Oil is a pretty fungible asset & Exxon will sell it to those willing to pay the highest price after expenses to get it there.

If they can get more in Europe or Asia or whereever they'll certainly sell more there and less here... via the allocation process of prices.
