It seems to me that often little is done to protect witnesse

Maybe the cities need to step up and help fund some sort of programs to help witnesses who are putting their own lives and perhaps their families' lives on the line by coming forward.

I think a lot of times they're just left out there on their own to fend for themselves. "Good luck, and thanks."
