asked to cover? Why should that not garner an increased premium?
It is doubtful that someone would be refused health coverage because they had a C-Section... nor have you shown any evidence that they ever were. What you are alleging is that people who demonstrate a higher risk of complications during pregnancy are being asked to pay a higher premium. And that just makes common sense.
Let's take the emotion out and talk about car insurance:
Pre-existing condition: You buy a car with a dent in the front quarter panel. That damage would not be covered.
Higher risk profile: You have a car with custom modifications that you expect the insurance company to reimburse you for if the car is damaged. They charge you a higher premium.
High risk profile: You have multiple crashes that are your fault or a DUI. The insurance company either charges you a higher premium or refuses to insure you.
What is wrong with that scenario? Higher risk = higher premiums. Lower risk = lower premiums.
