I posted earlier about such ASSURANCES and the inflexibility there in. Christian believers like to say we got it from our book (stolen from the Jews) and our book is written by God.
God is never wrong. God wrote our book. God is never wrong. Our book is never wrong.
The Book was patched together by scribes during the Babylonian captivity putting on scrolls what had been the oral tradition of the Hebrew Tribe. Even by the time of Christ those scrolls and that "book" were not completed. That is the OT, the Torah, Pentateuch and addl writings. The Gospels began with Paul writing around the year 50. Paul never knew the Preacher, but did know Peter and James, brother of the Preacher who took over the family business. Around the year 70, you get Mark, some 20 years later Mathew and Luke/Acts. No one knows who wrote any of it, but the letters of Paul. Other Gospels written "in the tradition of" such figures as Thomas - non-narrative but exclamations reported to be the words of the Preacher, and Mary and Judas appear around that time. These are non-canonical - rejected by the MEN who patch together the Bible. These are referenced as well as Gnostic Gospels, based on Gnosis or Special Knowledge. John is written last.
What is also rejected by ORTHODOX reading are the Ebionites and the Marcionites.
It's not quite that simple how it came together and this reliance on GOD SAID, GOD CHOSE, GOD Inspired so WE always right, never wrong does not persuade.
