Our inefficient health care system is one reason why we have trouble exporting manufactured goods.

Under a more efficient British/Australian/Canadian style national health system, total costs would be lower improving the competitiveness of our exports.

The downside is that our inefficient system operates as a "make work program" just like the military does. Making the system more efficient gets rid of a lot of administrative jobs at health insurers, hospitals and doctors offices.
