The investigation disclosed on the morning following the Lonk Snyder conversation, Melvin Watkins ran into Alden at a morning coffee place and Watkins told Alden that Quinn planned to resign later that day. Apparently, Alden had not seriously considered that possibility. The investigation found that Alden placed a call to and left a message for Quin at the later's home. Quin may or may not have got the message, but the two never spoke. Quin resigned that after noon and it was spun as a firing by Mizzou.
Among the consequences is that Harpo's stopped hosting Alden's weekly radio show. Getting "kicked out" by Harpo's made the national AP wire.
