If that's $2.5 mil/year due to a bidding war, then so be it. It would be foolish to pass on a top coach for a mediocre one to save a million/year. In the long run, it would cost us MORE to hire a cheap coach because of the negative effect it would likely have on the program and thus attendance, merchandise sales, donations, etc.
