Zanders was interviewed and remarked no matter who starts the situation is each presses the other and it makes both, better.
Yeah we're fortunate to have Lock and he's got everything he needs to make his career special. But there's apparently something legit to what Zanders brings. What, if any mix at all develops is anybody's guess at this point.
KOMU in their little report flashed a Zanders pass of about 30ish yards. Nice spiral. Perfect toss. Hit the receiver on the chest and right in stride.
It's fair to say the chatter on Zanders' skill set piques one's interest regarding the competition at QB. Lock is the heir apparent, has the arm, last year's experience to modify and refine his tendencies, and all the intangibles you could hope for. So from here you expect him to get the nod.
But including Zanders in the mix may have its merit. Because if the O-line resembles ANYTHING close to the **** sandwich we were fed last year, no way Lock doesn't need some spelling. And if our line is again poor (despite some preseason optimism) there may be no better options but to play the more evasive Zanders just to bring a possibility to stopping the stuffings.
All that out of the way I don't think we know enough about Zanders (can only speak for me). If he ain't nuttin' butta a touchdown Armageddon will Lock be able to claim the same?
Tell you what though, after we slap a quick and unanswered 35 on the scoreboard (this will become commonplace) and if indeed Lock is the starter, don't be surprised to at the stadium hear: "MIZ" getting responded to with: "Bring in Z". The same could happen if our O-line is as dreadful as the Ricker & (our pathetic OC of last year, I can't even remember there guy's name) sinkhole.
There's at least reason to believe Heupel is gonna use jujitsu if he's gotta. And IF our new guys hit on all cylinders? It's not beyond the scope of plausibility and it's why this team is such a wildcard heading into our inaugural reinvented season.
We chall see...
