Russia to win the war, but said both he & Putin thought that Zelenski would see the writing on the wall & negotiate a deal before massive bloodshed & destruction. He claims that because of that Russia didn't mobilize a huge force, and went in just to show he was serious, thinking that would be enough.
Obviously the West went in full bore with their plan to draw Russia in & then bog them down in a quagmire.
He did also claim that they were indeed trying to go very easy on the civilians & the infrastructure as they considered the Ukrainians, especially in the east as brothers/Russians. Apparently many of the eastern Ukrainians feel the same way.
He also claimed that there were behind the scenes battles between the generals who wanted to go full bore and end the war quickly and Putin who wanted to minimize casualties on both sides and not pull NATO & the US directly into the war.
Not sure how much of that is true... It is said that truth is the first casualty of war, after all. But it does make sense that Ukraine is vastly outnumbered & is now at a big weapons disadvantage as well. They've been publicly crying about that for quite some time. They're also obviously very short on manpower, which is certainly understandable and to be expected when going up against a far larger country in a war that has dragged on for some 3 years now.
I'll ask you the same question I've asked Rask & a couple of others:
If you were president, or king, and could control US policy, what would you do in this situation?
