Because they simply don't have any. They have created this false narrative in their pea brains that isn't based in reality. When they are exposed to reality and suffer from the cognitive dissonance, their only reaction is to deflect, lie, or contradict themselves. They would lose their entire identity if they actually faced reality, and end up joining the 'left' in this false narrative. MAGA, the social experiment, will be studied for decades.
