If very powerful figures would be exposed who could severely hurt either or both Trump or Biden or their families, or their fortunes, or their political ambitions or power, they might well balk at exposing the information.

If it could potentially lead to other catastrophic consequences, such as nuclear war or economic collapse or myriad other disasters they might decide that it is more prudent to sweep it all under the rug.
